Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon ceremonial or culinary grade matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot but not boiling water
  • 1 cup cold milk dairy or plant-based like oat, almond, or soy
  • 1 teaspoon honey agave syrup, or maple syrup (optional)
  • Ice cubes

Optional Add-Ins:

  • A dash of vanilla extract for added depth
  • Collagen powder for a health boost

Instructions

Sift the Matcha

  • Use a fine mesh strainer to sift your matcha powder into a small bowl. This removes clumps and ensures a smooth consistency.

Whisk with Hot Water

  • Add 2 tablespoons of hot water (around 175°F or 80°C) and whisk vigorously using a bamboo whisk (chasen) or handheld frother until frothy.
  • Tip: If you don’t have a whisk, shake the matcha and water in a tightly closed jar.

Sweeten It

  • Add your preferred sweetener to the matcha mixture while it's still warm so it dissolves fully.

Assemble the Latte

  • Fill a glass with ice cubes. Pour the cold milk over the ice, then top with the matcha mixture. Stir or leave it layered for a stunning visual.
